Guidance and Keystones (Week 69)
Monday, November 25, 2024 7:51pm
Hi everyone, what's up?
So, my week, it was lit. Why you ask? Because of the Book of Mormon.
Firstly, we gave out like nine of them this week, which also means that we have only one left that we can give out, gotta make sure we give it to the right person!
Secondly, all the people we gave a Book to seemed really excited to receive one and promised to read it, so we have a lot of good return appointments this week.
Lastly, the guidance we have received with our contacting and lessons are amazing. With more than half of the people we gave a Book to, I wasn't expecting to hand one out, but I just felt that we should talk about it. We've also had some very guided lessons, I've never thought I'd teach about plural marriage in the first lesson, but I felt it was necessary and it turned out helping a lot and showed our friend the necessity of prophets.
Basically this week has really showed me that the Book of Mormon is truly the keystone of our religion, it helps join everything together and everything is made stronger through it. Through the Book of Mormon, we can learn more about the majority of principles in the Gospel of Christ and learn more about Him and His love for us. And I know that because of my efforts to learn and study this book, I have been blessed in my efforts as a missionary.
I'll end it here, because it's late and I could honestly talk a ton about this week, but I have stuff to do. Like sleep. Anyways, I'm loving the mission so much, every day more and more, and even though the time is flying by, I'm making sure to take advantage of it every day.
Oh yeah, Thanksgiving this week too! Make sure to give thanks for all the things! Yup, just all of them!
Love you all tons! Til next week!

*Achoo!* ...Anyways, Book of Mormon? (Week 68)
Monday, November 18, 2024 4:42pm
Hey hey hey, what's going on, party people? Yet another week has gone by in the Great BahÃa Blanca Mission, how does this keep happening?
Well, we've done a good amount of work with some inactives this week, firstly with the family we fasted with; we set some good goals and plans with them to help their daughter get ready for baptism and to be temple ready when the moment is right for them. We have a lesson set with them on Wednesday to hopefully set a baptismal date and explain a few principles.
We also found an hermana who had actually served a mission a long time ago that hads't been to church in quite the hot minute. Her reasoning for that comes from a lot of the pressure her calling put on her added with the craziness of the teaching job she had at the same time, so she just stopped doing everything. She's actually about to start teaching again, so I felt really strongly to invite her to start really studying the Book of Mormon again and promise her that she'll find the peace and patience she needs while reading it. She seems pretty excited to start reading again, hopefully she's had some good experiences by our next visit.
There's another family we met that hasn't been to church in a while either and has a few kids that aren't baptized. One of the other companionships had actually passed by and set baptismal dates with them and from what I'm hearing, they should progress well. The mom of the family doesn't really want to come to church all that much, but she's willing to go for her kids, so we'll take what we can get. We have a lesson scheduled with them soon, so we'll be able to get to really figure out their struggles and concerns and hopefully help them out.
Outside of the members, we've found some more people that seem like they'll progress well, just got to have the return lesson to see what's up with them. I've got a lot of hope though, I've felt really guided with how to do my contacting recently and we've been focusing more on introducing restored truths to people, which usually garners a lot of interest and brings the Spirit into the contact.
Also did some divisions with Elder Swenson from my district, and we expiremented with an interesting way of door contacting which is asking for a glass of water straight off the bat. It actually works out pretty well, everybody knows we walk around all the time, and now that it's hot they're willing to lend a hand. It did lead to us giving away a LdM, so I'd say it was a success.
On a more spiritual note, I've been reading the newest Saints book a lot lately, and I'm getting to the part where it talks about the church in the early 2000s, which is a bit surreal, but that's not the point. The point is that during the early 2000s, the church dedicated the 100th temple, about 170 years after the church was founded. And now, about 20 years later, President Nelson just dedicated the 200th temple. Just within the last 20 years of the church, it has grown so much, and it's still going. I have to remember that sometimes, especially after being in an area for nearly four months, but the work does always move forward, which is incredible to see, no matter if it's with temples or with converts, it's all His work.
Anyways, this is a pretty long email and you all have short attention spans. Kidding, kidding, I love you all and thanks for reading this week, I'll be back again for the next one.
Que Dios les bendiga, mis queridos, nos vemos pronto ooo ooo

To Plan or Not To Plan? (Week 67)
Monday, November 11, 2024 8:08pm
Hey yall, Elder Montgomery again, how's it hanging?
So, this week Elder Roundy and I just put the pedal to the metal this week and we got a ton of awesome work done.
First off, we found quite a fair amount of new people this week, and most all of them seem like they have a lot of potencial. Not a lot of them were there for the second lesson we put, but hopefully we can find them again during this new week.
One of the technically new people we had was the daughter of a family that's returning to activity we've started working with. They've been going through a tough time looking for work recently, so we decided together to hold a fast with them Saturday evening to Sunday afternoon, and it went really well. The hermana actually messaged us this morning telling us that her husband got some calls about job openings, so they're already seeing blessings! But anyways, the next step for them would be to get her daughter baptized, and it would be especially special if her dad could baptize her, so we're going to be working hard to get them back in the church.
One thing that's been on my mind a lot this week has been something that the president has wanted us to start focusing on, which is making good goals and good plans. I have absolutely no problems with that, in fact I strive my hardest to make goals and plans that will take us above and beyond, but I still feel President is implying that there's more that we can be doing, and I'm not sure what that is. I've done some studying, and everything has been telling me to just make sure my plans are in accordance with what God wants, which of course they should be, but I'd like to know how I can make my plans what both President and Our Heavenly Father want from me. I'll be mulling this over a lot for probably a while honestly haha.
Well, kinda late, I know it's not a lot this week, but I'll leave it for now. I'm happy, healthy, safe, and love my comp and my area, so everything is still going great, so nobody worry lol.
Anyways, goodnight! Remember to use all the tools Heavenly Father has given us in our modern times!

P-Tuesday?!? (Week 66)
Tuesday, November 5, 2024 7:03pm
QUE TAL MI GENTE!?! No, I'm not dead, we just had a conference yesterday, so Pday got moved to today. Fun right?
Anyways, it was a pretty exciting week this last one, so lemme describirla
So first off, transfer week arrived! Elder Senador left me at about two in the morning on Halloween, so I stayed with the other Elders in Azul for the day while we waited for our new companions, who would be getting here at about THREE in the morning (I have not slept a lot this week haha), so we all walked around together and did some work until it got dark and everyone started asking us for candy, so we went home and napped until we had to pick up the new guys. Everyone got here safe and sound, albeit tired, and me and my new comp, Elder Roundy from Utah, went home to sleep a bit before starting the day.
Being with Elder Roundy is pretty cool, I'm his second comp outside of his trainer, so I'm helping him learn a lot of things, mostly Spanish. Luckily he already speaks pretty well, a lot better than he thinks he does, so he'll be doing some great stuff soon enough. He's definitely one of the quieter comps I have, which is not a problem, I could definitely stand to learn from his example and be paying more attention to the things around me and especially to the Spirit.
The Elders of Azul 2 had a baptism this week! Well, technically 2 baptisms, but one of the kids was 8, so she doesn't count as a baptism for us, but regardless! It was a pretty awesome experience and it got a few inactive members to come out of their hidey holes, which is always nice to see. To my surprise, they also asked me to confirm one of the two kids, which of course I did! But yeah, I'm happy for the kids and glad that Elder Castillo doesn't have to stress about the baptism anymore, poor guy.
On Sunday, we had to travel to Olavarria for a conference on Monday, and we made it fine and safe to the apartment to stay the night, but it ended up raining quite fuerte and the building lost power around midnight. That wouldn't have really been a a problem, but some other Elders were coming to the apartment at about 2 in the morning, and I had to let them in. Now, the apartment is about ten stories up, which is fine because there's elevators, but when the power's out...yeah, I had to spend a sec getting down ten flights of stairs while the poor Elders were waiting outside in the rain. Felt kinda bad, but oh well, that happens you know.
So, Monday was conference, a bit more of a special conference this time though because there was a Seventy there, Elder Gavarret. Unfortunately, he could only be in BahÃa so we watched everything over Zoom. It was still a pretty good conference, there's a lot of things I'd like to apply to my work involving prayer and a lot of the challenges/commitments we extend as missionaries. Once we find good people, we should be getting them to progress pretty quickly I'd assume.
So yeah, that's pretty much been my week! A little sleep deprived and exhausting, but quite fulfilling, to be truthful. This transfer is looking like it's going to be pretty fun as well as busy, which for a missionary is a great thing. So yeah, vayan por la sombra, anden con suerte, todas las cosas, los amo un montón!!
Ciao for now!!
