Life is a Highway (Week 80)

Monday , February 10,  2025        8:25 m

Hey errebody, wussgud

This week was very confusing. A lot of success but at the same time a lot of letdowns. Also, cars.

We found a lot of people that seemed like they were going to come to church! We had a really great first lesson and even passed by again with the majority of them and talked about the church meeting and everything and they seemed very down to come. None of them showed up on Sunday, but I'm sure we'll be able to get them next time.

We've also been trying to do some follow up with our older friends, set up another lesson and everything, but nobody here likes answering their phones very much. We do find out eventually that they've been out of town and didn't have reception or their phone broke or something, but still, a bit of a frustrating situation for all parties involved. But mostly us because I muss having lessons with progressing people.

Part of the reason that nobody could do anything this week might have also come from the fact that there was a big event in Balcarce this weekend celebrating cars and stuff. If you're wondering why, a long time ago in like the forties, a guy named Fangio from Balcarce won a couple of Formula One championships, so they brought out a couple of Formula One cars from a museum here and other people brought their classic/fancy cars to the event and everything. I'm not much of a car guy, but it was still cool to see. But yeah, everybody was there, so no time for the missionaries.

I did have some time to ponder a lot about some scriptures because of that this week. I recently read over Jacob 5 from the Book of Mormon again, and goodness, that chapter just keeps on giving, no matter how many times I've read it. This time what stuck out to me was the mercifulness and diligence of the Lord of the Vineyard. There are multiple times in the chapter when the fruit of the trees go bad, but the Lord keeps working and keeps nurturing the trees so that at some moment they can become tame and bring forth the good fruit. Even though the trees in this parable are more referring to the tribes of Israel in general, it still applies to us. Our own Lord is always working to help us come closer to Him. As a missionary, it's been a blessing to not only come closer to Him myself, but help so many others deepen their love and connection with their Savior. I still have a good bit left in the mission, but I'm so glad that I've been able to 'have joy with Him because of the fruit of His vineyard.'

Well anyways, I love you all very much, wishing the best always! Look for ways to invite the guidance of the Holy Spirit this week!
