Burial Ground (Week 95)

Monday, May 26, 2025   9:32pm

Hi everyone, how's it going, how's the week been? Well, do I have some news for yall. Transfers happened and...... *insert drum roll*

I'm staying in San Martin!! With Elder Morán! This is my last one now, and I can't think of a better way to go out to be honest.

Anyway, this week!
We found Yamila!! She's a really nice lady who believes a lot in Christ and goes to a church sometimes and everything. We were able to teach her a little bit about prophets and the Restoration the first time we passed by, and the second we went with an Hermana who lives closely and gave her the Book of Mormon. It was a great lesson and she's promised us to read it, so we just gotta pass by and see what she thinks!

Talked with Alejandro and Mauricio, brothers that we found a couple weeks who have been in some not so great situations in their lives but want to change and become better through Christ! They had some great questions for us about baptism and about the church and it's meetings, they already have BoMs so I'm hoping we can explain the Restoration next time we pass by.

We visited a part member family named Aguirre a few times! They're really nice and also warming up to us, they've been inactive for a while but the husband, Andres, who's actually not baptized, has been wanting to come to church, which is so awesome! We had some really good lessons with them abou the sacrament and commandments and such, it's been great to watch them grow in faith and happiness in such a short time.

Come Sunday, and we have been fired up from such an awesome week, so we were determined to get some people in church for the first time since I've been here. So what do we do? Pass by the houses of our friends of course. Alejandro, one of the brothers I mentioned before, was there and ready to walk with us there! Que milagro, no? Then we get to church, and the Aguirre family is there! Another miracle! And also a guy that got baptized three months ago that I though was never going to come to church again came back and were going to visit him this week!! Unexpected miracle! It was such a good Sunday, it was also one of the Argentine holidays relating to their independence, so the church meeting was a bit more special, and wow, I just loved it and the spirit was so strong and our friends loved it and they want to come back next week and UGH. I'm just quite grateful for everything the Lord has done for me in my time here in the mish. He's awesome, the awesomest, I'd say.

Anyways, it's late and I love yall but I also want to sleep.
So yeah, see yall later!! Trust your Father in Heaven and He will bless you!!

Flu Fighters (Week 94)

Monday, May 19, 2025   8:33pm

Hey everyone, yep, it's Big Me, Your Hero, Elder Montgomery!! Yet another week has Learned to Fly and now there's No Way Back to it. At Times Like These, it's always nice to look back and really see what the Best of You and the Lord was during your week.

So, as we have been gradually been finding more and more people, we have been able to filter out the not-so-interested ones and the never-en-casa ones and now we have a pretty good teaching base! Even this week, we were able to find quite a few and most of them very interested in the Gospel!

First off, we had a great lesson with a fellow named Guillermo, who's said he was kinda agnostic at first, but as we went along teaching about the Plan of Salvation, he started talking about how he was sure God wanted this and that good thing for His children. Cool to see someone's heart changing a little bit right in front of you so quickly! We left him with a pamphlet about the Restoration of the church, which should turn out well, he mentioned he really likes history, so I'm excited for the next lesson we might have with him!

We've been teaching a lady named Julieta for a bit, and she's super nice and so open to the teachings of the church, I love it. She also lives a block away from our house, which is a huge advantage, because it was her birthday on Monday, so during the week we made some brownies and brought them over to her with another present too: The Book of Mormon, probably the best present I can think of. She actually loved it and was excited to hear that there was record of God's interactions with the people of the Ancient Americas. She has been passing for some tough moments, and just this morning she sent us a text saying that she's been reading the BoM and it's helped her to feel more at peace. WOW, almost like the book is true or something! Anyways, I really want her to come to church this Sunday, it'll probably take some work to get her there, but I know she'd love it.

Also talked to a wonderful lady named Margarita! She had met with missionaries a while ago and remembered a few things about Joseph Smith and the BoM, and she really wanted to get her hands on a copy. We taught her the Restoration real fast and promised to bring back a Book, which we did with the help of a member, who bore some very strong testimony, it was nuts. We should be visiting her again soon, can't wait to see what she's read. I also think she has a car, so a good chance she could come to church on her own.

We had Zone Conference!! It was a lot of fun and we all learned quite a bit about how we can plan our days and weeks out a bit better, as well as how we can act more missionary-like in every situation. They also gave us flu shots which is good because it's been going around. Unfortunately in my case, they were a little late to the party, because I've been Kung Flu Fighting this whole week trying not to be completely sick. My nose has been stuffed up the whole week though and I am not appreciative, but we'll be fine. I think. Anyways, I only have one Zone Conference left now, which is crazy to think about.

Oh yeah, had I mentioned? I officially am going home July 9th. Wild, right? It's kinda weird to think about, but it's fine, cuz I'll Stick Around a little bit longer now, This Is just A Call to start working even harder, to Walk, Run, and Come Alive until the end. Ain't It The Life? Welp, see yall next Monday, not Everlong away!
Love you all!!

Santos Cangrejos, Soy Viejo (Week 93)

Monday, May 12, 2025   9:07pm

Hola amiguitos, como andan todos ustedes?

Alrighty then, this week what did I get up to?

Helped out a guy named Alejandro bring home his groceries after the boxes he was carrying broke and his stuff went everywhere. He was really nice and asked us who we are and what we were doing, and after explaining a bit the mission, he was way down to talk with us again. We gave him a LdM right then and there, and then passed by later in the week, where we read with him and his brother about the importance of baptism in 3rd Nefi, which brought the Spirit so strongly that Alejandro started to tear up, which he didnt understand but we explained it was the Spirit, which made him really happy to hear and recognize. While they didn't think they were ready to set a date, they really want to change their lives and now know that the church and the Gospel of Christ are the way to do that. So hopefully soon we'll see some cool progress here in San Martin!

Found some inactive part member families, one of them specifically is a mom with a 10 year old daughter who wants to get baptized. Excuse me what? Wants to get baptized? I know, doesn't happen that often. We still have to meet the daughter, but the mom is free on Sundays, to which she said 'So I have no excuses to not show up to church.' How right you are, Hermana lol. We should be able to get a lot of them up and going especially with:

A new bishop! Yeah, this last Sunday, our bishop was changed for a new one, which nothing against the old bishop, dude is a dawg and is now part of the stake council, but changes in the ward always bring new energy to it as well, so I can't wait to see what happens to this wonderful ward here in the next couple months!

To explain the title a bit:
1-My comp speaks English really well, but the phrase 'holy crap' was heard as 'holy crabs' and now I will be using Santos Cangrejos my whole life, thank you very much.
2-Yeah, I had a birthday, and while I won't shout hooray, it was pretty fun. I don't know how they did it, but the Releif Society somehow found out and the whole ward was sending me well wishes the whole day, which was very sweet of them. We also had gotten invited to a Family Home Evening with a family, and surprise surprise, after they teach an awesome lesson about the brother of Jared and Faith, they pull out a cake with my face on it. It was honestly a lot of fun, a lot better than the mosquito plague that happened last year haha.

A lot of you know I love reading, and I think I have a new favorite book. I already mentioned it a lot, I know, but Jesus the Christ is such an amazing book. I have learned so much about my Savior in the last few weeks that I've been reading it, and through this understanding I feel even closer to Him. As I have tried even harder to follow His example of wisdom, charity, and obedience, I have seen so many more blessings in my personal life and my life as a missionary. So yeah, I highly recommend for anyone who needs something to read, you won't regret it.

Annnnnd yeah, that's been my week! Yall are pretty cool for being here another one, you know that? Anyways, hope yalls week is amazing, that yall see many miracles and many blessings in every moment!
Love yall tons!!
